Maria Lagrange's work is essentially a research work. This type of work is constituted by a physical work, a theoretical work and an action of transmission and public transformation of the same that requests the intervention of society and the debate of its proposals.

Formed from a young age in the Argentine field of plastic arts, María Lagrange's work is placed in the methodological lines that her elders founded and defined the art called "Rio de la Plata". Of these famous reference groups, we can highlight: Torres García's workshop, Madí group, Ultraísmo, El Movimiento Espacialista and Lucio Fontana's White Manifesto, La Nueva Figuración, among many others.

The groups of artists to which reference is made, contributed to develop the local thought of plastic in this part of the world. They focused on the concept of modernization as a synonym for the evolution of the collective spirit and the metaphysical values of art. They underlined the social function of the artist as an ideologist and observer of the evolutionary alternatives where artists are constituted as collective voices that interpret and develop the legitimate claims that arise from popular reality, both social and metaphysical.
